1984 Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole

Beyond Exceptional Example

Beyond Exceptional 1984 Rosso Corsa over Tan Leather Ferrari 308 GTS Quattrovalvole

Owned by an avid Ferrari collector, enthusiast, aficionado, Prancing Horse magazine contributor, etc., who absolutely loved this 308 GTS QV, won concours with it, enshrined it, improved it, pampered it and loved to drive it as it was intended -- he recently passed suddenly or this very special Ferrari would not be available.

Highlights:
----------
- Excellent Paint & Interior

- Excellent Mechanically

- Fully & Obsessively Maintained

- Owned since 1992 after his "...6-month scrutinizing search, it was love at first sight...".

- Concours winner for several year after the 308 GTS QV's purchase.

Improvements & Upgrades
----------
- The owner refocused from winning concours events to driving the 308 GTS QV; modernized to his taste with one important caveat: "...all changes had to be "bolt on", so the 308 GTS QV could easily be put back to factory specifications...".

- Supercharged 350hp Dyno at the wheels (exceeding 348 hp & torque).

- Original Leather: Stripped old dye and Leatherique reconditioned

- XM-Radio/CD-MP3 player and Focal speakers

- The perforated leather speaker covers were replaced with dyed-to-match acoustic grill cloth.

- Subwoofer was installed in the passenger footwell

- The amplifier & equalizer were mounted to a disc that sits nicely in the spare tire's wheel inset

- F355 Challenge pedals from Ferrari of Atlanta

- Large diameter carbon-fiber over aluminum shift-ball from Team Voodoo, similar to those used in the F355, 360 and 550, but engraved with the 308's 5-speed shift pattern

- Hill Engineering "Slick Shift Gate" from Ricambi America

- Euro-style turn lenses

- Upgraded headlight system

- GTB Style Rossa Corsa Targa top (original included)

- Louvered quarter window covers "opened up" to match the GTB look by by Corlett Auto (originals included)

- High temp brake fluid

- Teflon/stainless steel brake lines.

- Tires upsized on the stock wheels to 225/50-16's and 245/45-16's on the rear

- More efficient Hayden radiator fans (replaced the originals from Lucas)

- Separate switched Spal puller fan was added to the factory oil cooler

- A-arm rubber was changed to poly bushings from Energy Suspension

- Larger anti-roll/stabilizer bars from Energy Suspension front & rear

- Original Koni shocks were replaced with Varishock coilovers (adjustable firmness & ride-height) -- with upgraded springs 300# front & 250# rear). Providing very comfortable ride with less nose-dive on braking and better "set" in hard turns.

- Lower ride-height

- Brembo GT "Big Brake" kit installed on the front (The kit uses the same calipers & brake pads as the 360 Modena) and larger lightweight rotors that really fill up the space behind the stock wheels not only for stopping power but also for better heat dispersement.

- The rear rotors were replaced with similar modern curved-vane lightweight two-piece floating-hat units from Girodisc.

- Porterfield R4-S pads are used on the front with stronger-biting EBC Green Stuff pads on the rear.

- Race-tested design oil sump baffle.

- Fuse blocks were replaced with custom units from Jonathan Bird using glass fuses.

- The Bosch dash relays.

- The engine has been well-maintained to get the performance these components are designed to deliver.

- High-performance Hyperflow cat (which gives near test-pipe flow) and Stebro free-flow exhaust -- improves acceleration that you can feel and hear.

- The supercharger setup with the Bosch CIS fuel injection components is a customized installation by the very knowledgeable and creative Scott McGehee of Mugello Motors. The supercharger unit itself is a model V9G from Vortech Engineering, very well known in the sports car upgrade circles. Scott designed the custom fittings and mounts so the SC head unit fits nicely in place of the stock airbox -- for a clean "factory look".

- Distributors and fuel management black box digiplexes replaced with a full laptop-programable direct-fire Electro motive XDI-2 system from Nick Scianna of Nick's Forza Ferrari. The setup provides consistent spark under load, adjustable advance curve interactively at the Dyno or even on the road. Horsepower and torque are optimized for the total setup.

+ All Upgrades are Bolt-On and Reversible

+ Fully Maintained

+ Clean/Clean Title

+ Drives, brakes and handles amazingly, with beyond impressive power-delivery that keep pulling through the rev-range
